Program Description

Before applying to this program, please note that you must attend a mandatory QU study abroad information session given by the Office of Multicultural and Global Education (OMGE). Please refer to the study abroad portal main page for the info session schedule.


Academics

Learn about Spanish language, culture, history, cinema, literature and society in several for-credit courses offered at the University of Salamanca. Courses are offered in Spanish and vary depending on semester of attendance and academic majors. Please consult the study abroad program website (Link 1 above) for the most current information.


Housing

Housing offerings differ between programs. Options may include student apartments, dorms or host families. Please consult study abroad program website (Link 1 above) for detailed information pertaining to housing.


Excursions

You will have several chances to travel during your study abroad experience. Embark on day or overnight trips to learn more about Spanish culture and society. API also offers international trips to famous European cities such as Lisbon, Paris and London. Excursions are seasonal. Costs

QU students study abroad payment includes, but is not limited to: a registration fee, QU’s full-time tuition, the cost to live in the QU Commons Residence Hall, less the dining service fee, and an obligatory overseas emergency and medical insurance fee. If the QU approved study abroad programs cost exceeds the sum of QU’s tuition and housing, the difference will be paid to QU by the student. When studying through a QU approved study abroad program, the student is responsible for paying any refundable security deposits, program application fees, and/or program withdrawal fees directly to the study abroad program. Depending on the study abroad program, students may also be expected to cover the cost of additional expenses including, but not limited to: airfare, visa, meals, academic materials, public transportation, internet, personal travel, etc. Inclusions and exclusions may vary by program.


When to Go

We offer study abroad programs during spring and fall semesters, as well as summer and winter breaks. Program schedules and locations vary according to your major. Please talk with your academic advisor and a member of OMGE for more information.


Extracurricular Activities

Some study abroad programs offer group meals, sports, museum visits, movie nights, shopping trips and more. Some activities may incur additional costs. Please consult study abroad program website (Link 1 above) for more information.


Volunteer Opportunities

Some study abroad programs offer volunteer opportunities. Becoming a volunteer abroad is an excellent way to immerse yourself in the local culture, practice your foreign language ability, obtain new knowledge and skills and make a positive impact in the lives of individuals less fortunate than you.
