Quinnipiac’s Direct Relationship with University College Cork, Ireland

Quinnipiac University’s Office of Multicultural and Global Education’s direct relationship program at University College Cork (UCC), located in Ireland, offers students the opportunity to complete university courses required for any major as well as participate in special classes designed to enhance their regular program of study. The program takes full advantage of the spectacular setting in Cork, where much of traditional Irish culture, language and history has been preserved and often is celebrated in festivals dedicated to storytelling, music, dance and epic poetry.

UCC has designed a range of programs and services to meet the needs of its international students. Students visit local businesses, theaters and historical or archaeological sites, as well as cultural sites that made Cork City the European Cultural Capital of 2005.

University College Cork Setting
University College Cork has eight faculties: arts, Celtic studies, commerce, engineering, food science and technology, law, medicine and science. There are more than 13,000 students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The beautiful campus combines early and modern architecture along a riverside garden close to the city center.

Cork is the second largest city in Ireland, located on the south coast, 160 miles south west of the capital, Dublin. The greater Cork area has a population of more than 200,000. The city is a busy seaport and is the home of a large number of industries including electronics, pharmaceuticals, brewing and food processing.

The surrounding environment is as varied as it is beautiful. Cork is ideally situated at the head of the inlet of Cork Harbor with the sea just to the south; mountains, hills and river valleys to the north and east; and the well-known Lakes of Killarney a one-and-a-half hour drive to the west.

Housing
Quinnipiac students reside in self-catering student apartments close to campus. Students will have their own bedrooms, bathrooms, personal broadband internet, and share a living area and kitchen with QU and/or other students from around the world. Housing is arranged by the QU Office of Multicultural and Global Education.

Dining is self-catering and includes working kitchens at the accomodations. If students would rather not cook, there are cafeterias and restaurants on campus as well as a wide variety of restaurants in Cork’s City Center.
