  • General Requirements for Semester-Length Programs

    • “Please refer to our full Semester-Length Program Policies for detail and further information.

    • To study abroad, you'll need:

    • A 3.0 cumulative GPA

      • All students traveling abroad are required to maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA, in addition to whatever academic requirements instated by the relevant program affiliate. Students who maintain a cumulative GPA between 2.7 and 2.99 may submit a Request for Waiver of GPA Requirement to the DCGE. Quinnipiac University can permit these waivers at its sole discretion.

    • No existing or pending conduct sanctions by the time you go abroad

      • A student with a conduct sanction or who has one placed on them after being accepted to study abroad must submit a Request for Waiver of Conduct Clearance form. If the sanction is applied to the semester in which the student intends to study abroad, the student will be ineligible to study abroad. In special circumstances, QU may grant permission to study abroad in its sole discretion.

    • To attend a Study Abroad Information Session

      • Each student who intends to study abroad must attend a full Study Abroad Information session prior to the semester in which they will study abroad. Any student who does not attend a session or leaves before the session's completion will not be eligible to travel. Information session dates are available on the DCGE Study Abroad Portal.

    • To maintain a full-time (12-16 credit) course load while abroad

      • Students abroad must maintain a full-time course load, defined as 12-16 academic credits. This is usually met by taking four classes. At some institutions abroad, taking more than four classes may not be allowed or will be heavily discouraged

    •   A student’s study abroad charges include, but is not limited to: a QU registration fee, Study Abroad tuition and housing (QU meal plan is not charged), and an obligatory overseas emergency and medical insurance and security assistance plan.  If the QU approved study abroad program cost exceeds the sum of QU’s study abroad tuition and housing, the student must pay the difference.

      A.     If student is selected for a QU exchange program abroad, charges include: a QU registration fee, Study Abroad tuition (housing fees will be paid by student directly to host institution) (QU meal plan is not charged),  and an obligatory overseas emergency and medical insurance and security assistance plan

      B.     When studying through a QU approved study abroad and/or exchange program, the student is expected to cover the cost of additional expenses, including but not limited to airfare, refundable security deposit, application fee, withdrawal fees, visa, meals, academic materials, lab fees, public transportation, personal travel, internet usage, etc.  Inclusions and exclusions vary by program.
